I am Zimbabwean-Australian, and lived in Canada, Sweden and Australia before coming to the US for graduate school. Outside of science, I'm a budding herpetologist, average but enthusiastic rock climber, tree climber, hiker, kayaker, and most recently, sailor. In my spare time, I write for travel site Gap Year Escape.
I am actively involved in science outreach and leadership both on and off campus. I currently serve as co-ordinator of the Ecological Society of America Early Career Ecologist Mentorship Program. In graduate school, I served as student President and national delegate for the Cornell University chapter of Sigma Xi: The Scientific Research Society, as well as President of the Cornell Biogeochemistry, Environmental Science and Sustainability Graduate Student Association, and on organizing committees for events including the Cornell Biogeochemistry Seminar Series, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Annual Symposium and Graduate Women in Science National Meeting.
